The 5th Women in STEM Seminar returns to Santiago as part of Energy Days 2026

At Genesal Energy, we are once again opening the doors to an event that has become a regular fixture in our calendar: the Women in STEM Seminar.

Now in its fifth edition, the seminar will once again be held as part of Energy Days, organised by the Galician Renewable Energy Cluster (CLUERGAL) from 30 September to 2 October at the CINC building in the Cidade da Cultura, Santiago de Compostela.

The event will bring together professionals from the energy and industrial sectors, as well as representatives from public authorities, to discuss energy efficiency, renewable energy and digitalisation. The seminar itself will take place on Thursday, 1 October, maintaining the same purpose with which it was first created: to provide a meeting place where female talent in the energy and technology sectors is given the visibility and voice it deserves.

We do not see this as simply another day of talks. For us, it is an opportunity to inspire the next generation, to exchange ideas among industry professionals and to highlight something we see every day within our own team: diversity and inclusive leadership are genuine drivers of transformation in the energy transition.

Through this seminar, we are reinforcing our commitment to creating a forum where women working in STEM can openly share the challenges and achievements they have encountered throughout their careers, and where dialogue between experts and other industry professionals can help promote equal opportunities across the energy and technology sectors.

The event is therefore primarily aimed at professionals working in the energy and technology industries, although it is open to anyone interested in the energy transition, innovation and the role of women in strategic sectors.

Our talks at Energy Days

Marga González, After-Sales Service Director at Genesal Energy, will deliver the presentation “Preventive maintenance: being prepared when the power fails”.
She will explain why the reliability of an emergency power system does not depend solely on having the right equipment, but also on ensuring that it will respond when it is truly needed. Drawing on our own experience during the blackout, she will demonstrate how anticipation, planning and the right service strategy can make all the difference in a real emergency.

• Alexander Blanco, Innovation and Development Director at Genesal Energy, will give a presentation entitled “Hybridisation: a fundamental pillar of the energy transition”.
  His presentation will explore how the hybridisation of energy technologies has become a key tool in the transition towards a more efficient, flexible and sustainable energy model, integrating generation, storage and energy management to optimise resources and reduce emissions.
  On Thursday, 1 October, as part of the 5th Women in STEM Seminar, three professionals with very different career paths but one factor in common will take the floor: all three have built their careers in sectors where women remain underrepresented.
  The event will be opened by Ángeles Santos, HR Director and President of the Genesal Foundation, and moderated by Raquel Maquieira.
• Rut Vázquez holds a degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the University of A Coruña and specialises in product development and mechanical design. She is a member of Genesal Energy’s Mechanical Engineering Department, where she designs and develops bespoke solutions for generator sets.
  Her experience covers 3D modelling, project management, technical documentation, production process optimisation, and direct support both in the workshop and on site. She is passionate about transforming ideas and technical requirements into viable, efficient solutions tailored to industrial applications.
• Yolanda Loureiro, Head of Business Development at CIRCE and a member of AEMENER, has more than twenty years of experience in the renewable energy sector, as well as four years’ experience in communications at TVE-Radio.
  Her career spans the entire value chain, from meteorological data processing and site selection to permitting, energy markets, PPA-based financing and technical due diligence, with particular expertise in hybridisation and energy storage.
• Nadia Rego has more than a decade of experience as a Trade Commissioner with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, specialising in the energy and environmental, infrastructure and ocean technology sectors.
  Her role focuses on building bridges between Canadian and Spanish companies and supporting them in achieving their business and investment objectives. Trilingual and a Certified International Trade Professional, she combines expertise in internationalisation models and export financing with a background in industrial engineering and process simulation.

The session will be moderated by Raquel Maquieira, CEO of 91º and co-founder of Embermind Technologies. She also advises senior management teams, multinational companies, investment vehicles and public authorities on the impact of artificial intelligence, the energy transition and Industry 4.0.
She was the first woman to serve as a delegate on the Governing Board of the Association of Industrial Engineers of Galicia and is currently a member of the Foro Enerxético de Galicia and the Women and Innovation Working Group of the General Council of Industrial Engineers.
