Faculty of Energy Transition
Improving sustainability through knowledge and research
We are putting all our energy into sustainable development
We are putting all our energy into sustainable development
In conjunction with the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), we have created a Faculty of Energy Transition, a collaborative space in which we put knowledge and research at the service of sustainability.
We are committed to sustainable and efficient energy models. As part of this commitment to sustainability we have created the first Specialist Energy Transition Faculty in Galicia in collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). This initiative is part of our Energy Transition Plan, which is designed to guide us on the path to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. Close collaboration with the university allows us to share relevant knowledge and research.
We believe in knowledge
The path to clean energy is through science, research, analysis and debate.
It gives us a comprehensive view of the challenges we face
Collaboration with the world of academia helps us increase our knowledge and discover new points of view which we can use to help us achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
It provides a solid framework for collaboration
It drives collaboration between public bodies and private enterprise and ensures ongoing, in-depth and meaningful communication between the university and the energy industry.
It facilitates knowledge sharing and strategic partnerships
With the goal of launching initiatives in fields such as education and research.
The goal of the faculty is to promote research, education and the diffusion of knowledge in the field of energy transition, particularly aspects related to distributed energy systems. The initiative will also provide support for additional activities in the field of energy transition, particularly those related to the following:
Our collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela began in 2017, when we launched a number of R&D&I projects in conjunction with the 2058 Research Group on Engineering and Management of Sustainable Processes and Products (PRODES).
The short- and medium-term goal is for both the eco-design process for our distributed generation units and our corporate carbon footprint to be as close to carbon neutral as possible.
We are collaborating on a number of different projects, including:
The initiative goes beyond research; the programme also involves organising and promoting activities to stimulate discourse and debate on energy transition, including energy transition modules in undergraduate and master’s degree courses, encouraging students to write theses and study doctorates in related areas, organising internships at our facilities, helping graduates find employment and organising specialist courses and seminars, as well as many other schemes.
The University of Santiago de Compostela provides the physical space. The Faculty of Energy Transition will be located in the USC School of Engineering (ETSE in the Spanish acronym).
Keep up with the new developments and projects that are bringing us closer to the world we want.
